QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered as an applicant for Associate membership, interested parties must be nominated with written endorsement from at least three (3) eligible Academy Fellow or Life Fellow members, one of whom must act as the applicant’s primary sponsor. The applicant must have attended at least two (2) AAED Annual Meetings in the last 4 years prior to submitting a membership application.

Applications of prospective Associate Members will be reviewed in accordance with such policies and procedures approved by the Executive Council, taking into consideration the candidate’s achievements in the areas of academic service, publications/editorial service, honors and/or awards, scientific presentations, and other service to the dental profession. Other considerations may include Board certification and/or eligibility, and dental specialty.

Associate Members are not members of the General Assembly, and are not eligible to vote or to hold elected office. They may serve as members of Academy committees.

Associate Members may apply for elevation to Fellow status after three (3) years according to the established eligibility requirements.
